About BASH awards
The Broadcast Alliance for Senior High Awards, known as The BASH Awards, is an annual celebration of student broadcast journalism and video production founded by Southold School District in 2017.
BASH moved to its new home at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University in 2023. BASH is part awards ceremony and part learning conference for New York Metropolitan Area school students, teachers, and school administrators involved in high school journalism programs and media production classes. In May 2026, the BASH awards welcomes our new location Jacob Burns Film Center Theater.

The goal of the BASH Awards is to showcase the talent in the growing broadcasting and film classes across New York Metropolitian Area. The event looks to bring together the teachers, administrators, and (most importantly) the students that make up the next generation of media creators.
The Event

We highly encourage all students to look their best at BASH. Formal / semi-formal attire is acceptable. This is the Academy Awards of high school broadcast work after all! So, don’t forget your best “BASH Attire,” as some students like to say!

Bring your cameras, your microphones and your talent. Be prepared to shoot a standup or create an "as live" at the event.

Buses should drop off right outside of the Jacob Burns Film Center Theater.
